Love

So. I go to the moose to celebrate the end of radiation with Karen and the kids. I look up and suddenly the people at the long middle table stand up and roar out with love!  I felt it with my feet. They're all there for me. Wow!

I had to rig the wheel, but I got the pie in the face. Yay! More pictures tomorrow.

The last day of radiation

Yesterday was amazing in so many ways. Harry and I had a pirate party before Mary came to pick me up.

Harry's turn at the hat!

Emily's words were with me every day. And so were all of you.

Heading to radiation.

Mary was kind enough not only to take pictures but she also ran back out into the rainy weather to get my pirate regalia!

The radiation teams were fantastic throughout this whole ordeal. Just really really great. Bruce was the best person I could have had on my first day. Truly a great communicator and he took my pirate act in stride!

I want to look at the smile on my face in these pictures and never forget that I reached every goal that my doctors set for me and I did it with a positive attitude every day.

Yay me!!

Bub bye radiation!

Last treatment Eve!

'twas the night before last treatment and all through the house, not a creature was stirring especially not a mouse!

I'm real happy about it being the last session but I'm also in a boat load of pain so tomorrow I have to set aside my pride and ask for stronger drugs that will get me through the next few weeks where things may still get more painful.

Stoic doesn't sooth burned skin and it isn't getting me any sleep.

Thanks to all of you for helping me get this far and thanks for sticking with me till the thing finally turns the corner and backs the heck off!

I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Connecting

Hi ho. My new attempt at sleep is to sleep like (and with) a cat. I try to go to bed a little after medication time, sleep for a bit then just roll with it when I wake up. Harrison HEARTILY approves of this methodology and has been a wonderful snuggle bum (while taking up his usual three quarters of the bed of course.)

This is the sort of activity I get up to when I'm awake at 4am

Played cards tonight and won big!

Caleb and Emily played in the leaves today and knew I'd want pictures so they emailed me some tonight.

So fun!

My sister that lives out east sent me pictures of their friend's little dog FiFi that she baby sat for today. She was shaking cause she was nervous. (The dog not my sister) So cute! (The dog AND my sister. )

This is my niece Dana and her puppy Graycee. Dana is in the hospital on full bed rest till she has her baby near the end of November. Drives me batty that I don't have the strength to visit her esp since I go to that same hospital every day but I know she understands completely and I'm not sure a radioactive person should visit the maternity ward! Thank goodness for wifi so we can visit that way!

Also Mom and Henry were able to visit with my niece Heather in Scotland via wifi today. She was in the middle of painting but gladly took the time to give them a virtual tour of her new home.

So wow. What a different day it would have been without wifi.

Well I guess that's it for now, don't forget Heather I'm gonna need one more pirate joke for Monday!

Day 22

Hey guess what?! Monday will be my last treatment! Dr K looked at my war zone and also considered that I have a groin lymph node that's swollen and very painful which might indicate infection, so she's decided to cancel the last two radiation treatments. She say it won't change the outcome to miss two treatments. She also gave me some antibiotics.

Yay! It's almost over!

Today my driver was my brother Al. (Sorry, not the most flattering picture).

This is the man that had the good sense to marry Mary who is basically, (along with Karen) getting me through this! Henry's pillow design deserves honorable mention too! I shouldn't start listing helpful people because I will be at this all night. Really grateful to all of you even if all you ever did was read this blog or said a prayer. Speaking of which I slept great last night. Only woke up when I needed more pain medication. What a great relief it is to sleep deeply enough to dream!

This was Al's cutie pie back seat driver. So fun to have Max along for the ride!

This just made me smile!

So I have all the drugs I need and they are working well. I can't decide if the burns or the lymph nodes hurt worse so I'm hoping they cancel each other out soon.

Looking forward to going to bed as my friend Sandra gave me a beautiful almost new memory foam bed topper that she had for her bad back. So generous and soft!!

Speaking of support...

I am one lucky pirate aunt!
